Welcome to New Dimensions in Learning, a TRiO Student Support Services Project. It has been more than 40 years since the passage of The Higher Education Act of 1965 which authorized TRiO programs, student loan programs, and many other initiatives that expanded opportunity in postsecondary education. Our TRiO Student Support Services Project, New Dimensions in Learning, has been on campus continuously since 1977. We have won competitive grants from the U. S. Department of Education totaling more than $4.5 million dollars and have been generously supported by the University of Iowa to achieve our shared purpose of retaining students to graduation. We have contributed to enhancing the educational experience of more than 9,250 students and counting. More than 6,105 of these students we have served have been both first generation and low-income with many of the associated challenges related to participation in higher education. We have achieved graduation, retention and administrative goals established by the U.S. Department of Education throughout the years. We stay aware of the issues affecting students through an experienced and knowledgeable staff. We provide personalized assistance and direction to students, collaborate with colleagues and campus organizations to foster positive climates and advocate for TRiO eligible students at every opportunity. We are guided by our commitment to provide meaningful contacts for the future lives of our students. Our stewardship of this program is taken very seriously as we continue to seek and follow practices that promote effective student outcomes, responsible management, and creativity. Explore being a part of the TRiO Student Support Services experience. We’ll show you how.
